Over the past 18 months, OT Group has made great strides to develop our ESG practices - and like many businesses in recent years we’ve started to see the benefits of investing both time and resources in holding ourselves accountable when it comes to the Environment, Society and Governance. To continue with our development, we’re seeking a Sustainability Operations Manager to work with us at our Head Office in Ashton, Manchester, to operationalise our ESG commitment.

In 2022, it became increasingly evident that our key stakeholders – our staff, our customers and our partners required us to not only report on our financials, but also on how we were managing our environment and the value we placed on society. We established our first sustainable strategy focusing on three main aspects: Our Planet, Our People and Our Partners. We published our first Manifesto that outlined not only how we were going to improve our sustainable credentials, but also how we are planning to achieve them.

Adopting respected frameworks was and still is key to making sure we avhieve our two main objectives – To reduce our carbon footprint by 50% by 2030 and increase our social value by 50% by 2030. We have, to date achieved silver EcoVadis rating, putting us in the top 25% globally of all companies audited by the world renowned sustainable management system and we have improved our CDP performance score, meeting our industry’s average performance when measured against the environmental performance of our competitors.

Our journey continues in 2023. Most recently we have joined third party sustainability certification, PlanetMark, which helps us to significantly move forward with our Net Zero strategy, by reducing our carbon emissions against our baseline which we established last year and improving further our operational efficiencies to work towards the global transition to Net Zero. We are also taking forward our commitment to Social Value and Ethical Business practices, with plans to achieve full ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) over the next few years and achieve full digital collaboration across our supply chain, through the introduction of a software platform that will, over time give us visibility of the environmental, social, governance, regulations and risks of our supply chain eco-system. This will help us to hold our suppliers accountable for their carbon footprint and ESG practices and most importantly help us to give our customers the ESG data they need to be successful.

This is a small snapshot of our ESG commitment and future plans. If you would like to be part of our ESG team and help us continue our journey, we would love to hear from you.
